Bio: Dr. Syed Ali Naqvi also known as Ali Akbar Mansoor is an internationally renowned psychologist and writer who has worked locally and internationally with governments, corporations, and foundations for more than 35 years. He completed his education and professional training at the most prestigious institutions in Pakistan, the UK, and Germany. His specialized training and experience in human behaviour and psychology encompass approaches such as Behaviour Therapy, REBT, Ind & Group CBT, EMDR, MBCT, NET, CFT, DBT, and Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy. He is a Chartered Psychologist, EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant, and BABCP-accredited CBT Consultant.
Dr. Naqvi has significant professional and academic experience in research, teaching, training, and leading and supervising psychology in universities, higher education institutions, corporate settings, defense and armed forces, as well as in government and public sectors. He has numerous research publications on various dimensions of human behaviour and change, with a special focus on PTSD. Additionally, he has presented a significant number of research papers at international conferences and has 8 published books in Urdu and English on psychology, philosophy, and literature. His renowned book, 'Muslim Nafsiyat,' was the first Urdu book on the subject of Muslim Psychology. Currently, he serves as a member of the editorial boards of the international peer-reviewed journals 'Pakistan Journal of Psychology' and 'Pakistan Journal of Clinical Psychology.'
Dr. Naqvi has served as an Advisor in Human Psychology at the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan, where his responsibilities included training special services, planning and implementing Psy Ops policies, asymmetric warfare, and combat stress management. In addition to his published books, he developed the first stress management field manual for the armed forces of Pakistan. His clinical work demonstrates successful interventions with patients experiencing mild to very complex and challenging mental health problems, coming from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. His major areas of expertise include PTSD and Social Anxiety.
For the past 17 years, Dr. Naqvi has been working for the NHS, currently serving as the Professional & Strategic Lead for Common Mental Disorders in one of the NHS mental health trusts in London.
